I am a bride, and I am obsessed. I've been pouring over wedding blogs, magazines, and yes, tv shows too. Last night I realized that I needed a break, a little step back from most things wedding related, or else I'll explode by the time I walk down the aisle if not before. More likely, I just won't enjoy the wedding if I keep obsessing constantly over the little details, and that is exactly what I don't want to happen. No no no.
So, for at least the next week I have cut myself off from wedding blogs and magazines and thinking about any wedding decisions that do not need to be made right now. Instead, I'm going to focus on what's really important in life. Like a sweet niece who is turning six (her age is now on two hands!!!) and a machine that is desperate for some quilt action.
I'm starting to feel more relaxed already.
Enjoy your break and don't fret the small stuff. Some of the things I spent the most time on (programs and thank-you gifts) weren't even handed out. And you know what, no one knew differently! The most important thing is to have fun.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it's going to be a fun quilt! I think it's easy to get obsessed with all the wedding planning. Slow down and enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteHow's everything else going? Are you free to get together soon? My sister and I are going to this really cool bar (or speak easy, I should say) in Alexandria if you're free.
Good for you! I'll look forward to seeing the quilt~

i got the same way with my wedding plans. it is hard not to. i am glad you are going to have some quilting time! i can not wait to see this one.
ReplyDeleteI found your blog about a month ago and have been following you since. I recently got engaged and for the first two months, I looked through tons of magazines and got really stressed out about it. Reading about how I need to take care of one thing or another and the flowers or the invitations or something else is most important and I hadn't even thought of those things. So I stopped cold turkey reading magazines and blogs. I'll read Martha stewart once every couple of weeks, but I won't spend obscene amounts of time on the site. It has really helped me calm down and stop stressing. I also like crossing things off of my To-Do list by month, it's nice to see things are getting done even if it is really slow.
ReplyDeletei have that same book, so can't wait to see your finished quilt! do you have some free-motion quilting planned for it?
ReplyDeleteI love fabric with the houses on it! I'm excited to see your quilting progress. I know what you mean about taking a break. I went to Mexico for a week to escape and I don't read any wedding blogs!
ReplyDeleteHave fun this week! I can't wait to see the quilt.
ReplyDeleteoh I remember the wedding planning...I have to say after 11 years of marriage, I look back at the wedding and it is the little details that I remember and made the day. So know that obsessing is exhausting but all the special details you put in the wedding will make you feel so good on the day and years after. Hope that makes sense...I am not sure if I worded correctly!
ReplyDeleteOh, I LOVE those fabric choices! Love!
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment on my large tote bag at the fabric store. I'm so glad I was able to remember your blog's title. Anyways, enjoy your time quilting this week! Everything's going to be fine with your wedding, you'll see. You'll have tons of helping hands in the last minute. I have to admit that I didn't go to my hair appointment the morning of my wedding just so I could sleep a little longer. It was fine! Funny enough we had the first ground covering snow of the year that morning, and everyone was amazed with the free color coordinated "decoration".
